Il programma Ramsete puo' essere scaricato dal sito www.ramsete.com/Public/Ramsete/
L'attuale versione e' la 2.5, quindi scaricheremo il file Ramsete25.zip. Vedremo poi come aggiornare l'installazione all'ultima release "beta", cioe' la 2.6. Ovviamente i contenuti dell'archivio vanno scompattati in una directory temporanea, che conterra', fra gli altri, il file eseguibile setup.exe.
Prima di lanciare il setup, comunque, si consiglia di effettuare alcune impostazioni fondamentali per il buon funzionamento del programma Ramsete:

1. Impostare i parametri Internazionali di Windows in modalita' Inglese (si consiglia "Inglese - Regno Unito" agli utenti italiani)


2. Impostare Explorer (cioe' Windows) per non nascondere le estensioni dei file di tipo "conosciuto" dal sistema operativo. E' fondamentale poter sempre vedere per esteso l'estensione di ciascun tipo di file.


3. Applicare l'impostazione n.2 a tutte le cartelle del sistema.


4. Se usate Windows Vista (sconsigliato, molto meglio XP-SP3 o Windows 7), dovete fare login con privilegio di amministratore prima di poter installare Ramsete.

Una volta impostato il computer come sopra, si procede lanciando il programma setup.exe.
Compare la seguente finestra:

Ovviamente per proseguire si deve clickare sul pulsante [OK]

Come si osserva, l'impostazione di default e' quella di installare Ramsete nella directory C:\Ramsete25. Si consiglia CALDAMENTE di mantenere invariata tale impostazione. Solo in casi particolari puo' essere opportuno modificare questa scelta (ad esempio installando Ramsete in D:\Ramsete25). Si sconsiglia comunque di utilizzare una directory molto "annidata", ed in particolare non usare mai una directory comprendente nomi con spazi (ad esempio, NON va bene usare C:\Program Files\Ramsete25).
A questo punto si puo' avviare la installazione vera e propria, clickando sul bottone con il disegno del computer, posto in alto a sinistra.
Compare una barra orizzontale che mostra la percentuale di installazione,

ed un avviso finale che segnala che l'installazione e' completa.

E' giunto ora il momento di verificare se esistono delle versioni piu' aggiornate di alcuni dei moduli di Ramsete, che anticipano gia' alcune delle funzionalita' della prossima release. Tali versioni aggiornate, se disponibili, si trovano in questa pagina web:

Occorre scaricare i files ivi contenuti, e scompattarne il contenuto, sovrascrivendo i files con lo stesso nome, ma di data antecedente, contenuti nella directory di installazione di Ramsete (tipicamente C:\Ramsete25).
Conviene verificare spesso nella directory Beta suddetta, perche' alcuni moduli di Ramsete sono in continuo aggiornamento.
Di fatto, le versioni non aggiornate di Ramsete non sono supportate, e' inutile segnalare in questo forum bachi o problemi con le versioni non aggiornate.
Si assume che TUTTI gli utenti di Ramsete utilizzino sempre l'ultima versione "beta" disponibile.

A questo punto, Ramsete e' installato ed aggiornato, ma funziona solo in modalita' "demo", perche' non e' ancora in grado di "vedere" la chiave hardware (in gergo, "dongle"). Perche' Ramsete possa accorgersi della presenza della chiave hardware, occorre aver installato, PRIMA di inserire la stessa nel PC, gli appositi drivers. Essi si scaricano da questa directory (supponendo che abbiate la moderna versione USB del dongle Smartkey):

Anche in questo caso, si scompatta il file ZIP in una directory temporanea, indi si seguono le istruzioni contenute nel file.
Se il Dongle che vi e' stato fornito non e' ancora programmato, si puo' inserire sullo stesso il vostro codice utente usando l'applicazione Dongle Manager del pacchetto Ramsete.
Tuttavia normalmente viene fornito un dongle gia' programmato, quindi non occorre usare alcuna procedura particolare di inizializzazione della chiave hardware, che dovrebbe essere automaticamente riconosciuta da tutti i moduli del pacchetto Ramsete.
Provate dunque ad aprirne uno, ad esempio Ramsete CAD, ed osservate se la finestra del titolo del programma dice "Ramsete Demo" oppure se mostra la corretta versione del programma per cui la vostra chiave hardware fornisce l'abilitazione.
Nel caso, nonostante abbiate installato i drivers ed inserito il dongle, il programma continui ad operare in modalita' "demo", e' evidente che qualcosa e' andato storto. In questo caso, potete postare qui per richieste di assistenza...

Installation Guide

The Ramsete program can be downloaded from the site www.ramsete.com/Public/Ramsete/
The current version is 2.5, so download the file Ramsete25.zip. The contents of the archive should be unpacked into a temporary directory, which will contain, among others, the executable file setup.exe.
Before you launch the setup, however, you should make some basic settings for the proper functioning of the program Ramsete:

1) Set the International Parameters of Windows mode 'English (we recommend "English - United Kingdom" to Italian users)

2) Set Explorer (ie Windows) not to hide file extensions of type "known" by the operating system. It 'important to always see the full extension of each file type.

3) Applying the setting n.2 all folders in the system.

If you use Windows Vista (not recommended, much better to use XP-SP3 or Windows 7), you will have to login with administrator privileges before you can install Ramsete.

Once the computer is setup as above, we proceed by running the setup.exe program.
The following window appears:


Of course, to continue you must click on the button [OK]
A second window appears:


Ramsete defaults to install in C:\Ramsete25. We recommend that you keep this unchanged. Only in special cases it may be appropriate to change this choice (for example by installing Ramsete in D:\Ramsete25). We do not suggest, however, to use a directory very "nested", and especially never use a directory name with spaces (for example, DO NOT USE C:\Program Files\Ramsete25).
Now you can 'start the installation itself, clicking on the button with the picture on the computer, place the top left corner.
A horizontal bar shows the percentage of installation,


and a final warning that indicates that the installation is complete.

It is now time to see if there are updated versions of some of the modules of Ramsete, which already anticipate some of the features of the next release. These updated versions, if available, can be found at this site:

You need to download the files contained therein, and unpack the contents, overwriting the files with the same name, but dated earlier, in the installation directory of Ramsete (typically C:\Ramsete25).
It is assumed that all Ramsete users are always employing the latest available "beta" version.
No support will be given on this forum about bugs or problems with older versions.

At this point Ramsete is installed and updated, but only works in "demo" mode, as it is still unable to "see" the hardware key (in jargon, "dongle"). For Ramsete can notice the presence of the hardware key, you must have installed the appropriate drivers, BEFORE you plug the dongle in the PC. The drivers are downloaded from this directory (assuming you have the modern version of the USB dongle Smartkey):

Again, you unpack the ZIP file into a temporary directory, then follow the instructions contained in the file.
If the Dongle that your received is yet unprogrammed, you can put on it your username and registration code using the Dongle Manager application, installed as part of the Ramsete package.
However, a dongle already programmed is sent to all registered users, then there is no need to use any special procedure to initialize the hardware key, which should be automatically recognized by all the modules of the Ramsete package, once the drivers are installed.
Try to open a program, such as Ramsete CAD, and observe if the window title of the program says "Ramsete Demo" or shows the correct version of the program for which your hardware key provides the certification.
If, despite you have installed the drivers and inserted the dongle, the program continues to operate in 'demo' mode, obviously something went wrong. In this case, you can post here for support requests ...
